This Mama-feature showcases Ten Peso Version, an award-winning and well- developed local band! These 3 young men have been producing music for 5 years, with many successful ones to come. These years together do not disappoint in displaying blends of musical tracks and music videos that carry the listener from the beginning to the end of each song. Their next show is June 27th Saturday at the Pyramid Scheme. We hope to see you!

Let’s take a look at the bandmembers, Ruben (Guitarist/ Vocalist), Tom (Drummer), and Collin (Bassist/Vocalist). In the beginning Ruben and Tom played music briefly in college together. After, they both moved away from Grand Rapids only to contact each other again down the road and find they both were planning to move back into Grand Rapids around similar times. They performed under the name Ten Peso Version as a duo, briefly, before Collin approached them after a show performed at Tip-Top Deluxe Bar & Grille. Getting together with Collin gave Ruben insight on how genuine and willing Collin was to freely play and vibe with their music. Since their connection, completing this funky rhythmic trio was a wrap. They’ve each solidified their places in Ten Peso Version.

Diving into some flavors that influence Ten Peso Version’s root are Red Hot Chili Peppers, Peach Pit, and LA LOM to name a few. The discipline these gentlemen went through hasn’t gone unnoticed in the local Grand Rapids music scene. Between the encouraging community and the variety of artists Ruben expressed how Grand Rapids has an expansive space for making a name and curating collaborations. Ruben, speaking on their passion shared this, “Our love of music FUELS US to create a unique blend of sounds across genres.” Some local love to share is Dogtown Studio Grand Rapids | Bring Your Music To Life. Building momentum their latest album Towards the Horizon (2025) came out on top during one of their most memorable shows, Ruben recalls. Their release of this album at the Pyramid Scheme displaying their talents won them a Jammie Award, this is an award that Local Spins - Covering West Michigan's music scene offers to local influential bands and musicians. A huge accomplishment for TPV! The coming June 27th show is going to be a very exciting event to bless our ears again. After a year break to write new music Ten Peso Version will be accompanied by Smile Darling Facebook and Wilson Ave. Facebook at the Pyramid Scheme Facebook to transport us through their new tracks.
